12 December events in Zimbabwe

It’s that time of the year. Some people have already booked their holidays whilst others have not. Then there are those that have no plan at all but are open to anything that comes their way. This is how I feel right now, I have no plan but I am keen for anything good that comes my way. With the last month of the year, I would really like to do something new, fun and memorable, either by myself or with good company. If you are travelling to Zimbabwe or wish to travel to Zimbabwe, here are some of the awesome things to do in Zimbabwe:

Family Christmas Party

Celebrating 40 Years of Tuku Music

Where: Harare

When: 5 December

He has over 60 albums and he has touched generations upon generations of Zimbabweans. Arguably the greatest musician to have been born in Zimbabwe, Oliver Mtukudzi celebrates 40 years of gracing the world with his music. He will take the stage to perform the music that has touched the hearts of the elderly, the adult and the young. An event not to be missed as the legend celebrates his music with his fans.

Zim Splash

Where: Harare

When: 5 December

Who doesn’t like getting wet in summer? Finding a way to cool off in the hot African sun is always a priority and there is a place where you may cool off. This family friendly event will be a lot of fun, and you will cool off with the various water based activities. Wanna get wet?

Harare Christmas Market

Where: Harare

When:  6 December

Kampala Fair, a small fair trade business based in Uganda, will be hosting a Christmas market in the capital city. With hundreds of African products on offer, this day will be a day of shopping for Christmas presents and hopefully a little thing for yourself.

Spectacular Saturday Christmas Market

When: 12 December 2015

Where: Harare

When: 13 December

Harare’s very own family friend event is on and without a doubt, I shall be there. A great experience with a really fun atmosphere that grips the excitement in all, especially the children (read about my experience of Unplugged here). There is something for all, so bring your blankets, cooler boxes and most importantly your peeps, to Harare’s very own family friend event.

Ibumba Festival

Where: Bulawayo

When: 16 – 22 December

The Ibumba Festival, also known as iFest, is being held in the oldest township in Bulawayo, Makokoba. The 7th Ibumba Festival will take place over seven days, in seven venues throughout the city, presenting seven major shows in theatre, music and dance. More than 40 shows will be presented throughout the festival, and one of the venues will be the iconic Stanley Square in Makokoba. The theme for this year is “Full On”.

Simuka Comedy Presents The Longest Yard

Where: Harare

When: 17 December

Who does not like a good laugh? This local act will be taking place through December and it is a one man show. Nothing is funnier than a live act, nothing is more interactive than a live act, and nothing is more addictive than a good laugh. Check out this one man act and do not be afraid to cry from laughter. It’s a prerequisite!

Neverland Zimbabwe

Where: Harare

When: 18 & 19 December

The most talked about event of December. The hype has started, the excitement is being contained and the invites are flying. Neverland is a two day music festival that will see international artists and DJs perform and take Harare to the next level. It is Zimbabwe’s biggest music festival and it is guaranteed to be the experience of the year.

Jameson Vic Falls Carnival

Where: Victoria Falls

When: 29 – 31 December

The city that hosts one of the original 7 Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls, will be ending the year on the ultimate high. The Vic Falls Carnival will be one of the biggest parties to end 2015 in Zimbabwe. A jam-packed but extremely fun schedule will entertain all. Explore and discover the wonders of this wonderful city, then party the night away at multiple venues. Victoria Falls will be the ultimate host of 2015 (read about my past experiences of Victoria Falls here).

So much to do in so many different locations. I hope you will have just as much fun as I will over December in Zimbabwe. It really is a beautiful destination.

Let’s create amazing memories!
